After a dramatic hologrammed intro, A.F. Vandevorst threw the fashion press straight into a furiously energetic collection of contemporary clothes. Jersey knits fell off the shoulder, with black leggings and draped cotton giving a soft silhouette, while elsewhere, blouses and tunics were revisited in lightweight fabrics. An austere look, in blacks, greys, anthracite, beige and white, it stopped short of glum thanks to whimsical oversized buttons and badges on jackets, and even boots. Wide, kimono-style pants, pleats and fringes on tops, smocking and biker boots made for a modern and creative collection. A.F. Vandevorst is full of ideas: pleats and folds were everywhere, with button clasps and pins to show off the designers' admirable cutting mastery. At the forefront of fashion, the Belgian duo presented a show which more than lived up to their public's expectations.
