With new spokesmodel Sharon Stone in the front row, LVMH's cash cow show was always going to be a star-studded event. Following his haute couture extravaganza back in July, the rather un-Galliano vision for next season is 'nude'. But don't be fooled, the wild child of British fashion has gone back to basics to celebrate the body in skin colours - remember the pink foam corsets under haute couture dresses in the summer? - in a vibrant harmony of colour and fabric. Supermodels strutted in mini dresses, tops and bikinis embellished with black lace and jade beading, with sleeveless jackets for an ultra-sexy. In keeping with his current obsession with fashion mechanics, skirts and coats were worked on the wrong side, with seams and finishings as features. Colour seeped into the collection in the form of dip-dyed organza dresses in dusky pink ,yellow, green and violet on draped, smock shapes and longer column dresses. We were worlds away from his usual theatrical bright colours, but the essence of Galliano was still there, in puffball and A line shapes and luxe fabrics like leather and crocodile skin in amongst the denim and knotted chiffon. Pret-a-porter isn't haute couture, but this season sees the Galliano version of wearable purity at Dior.
