Tip No.#1: Set up a savings account

If you haven't already - set up a savings account. Did you know that more than a fifth of Brits have no savings?  Savings are good for financial emergencies like car repairs or dental work and the recommended amount is at least three months' salary.

You could check whether your bank account provider offers a savings account, shop around for current accounts with high interest rates, or open a savings account with someone else who offers a competitive interest rate.

Set up a Direct Debit to pay into your savings every month: that way you won't be able to spend the money on shoes and make-up before you've set it aside.
