Daniel Craig "tips Robert Pattinson to be the next James Bond"
Though Daniel - who's married to actress Rachel Weisz - is contracted to another two films as the secret agent, he thinks Rob could be the next right man for the job.
A source revealed to OK!: "Daniel told Rob he’d make a brilliant Bond and would like to see a young talented British actor take on the role.
"Daniel’s signed on for two more Bond movies but is convinced he’ll do no more - for one thing, he hopes to start a family with Rachel soon and wants to focus on that.
"Rob’s a monumental fan of Daniel’s and told him so, but he was completely taken aback when the compliments were returned."
It seems Daniel and Rob's bond (excuse the pun...) goes further than just business.
The Skyfall star is obviously a big fan of 26-year-old Rob - especially since he hit the headlines when girlfriend Kristen Stewart, 22, cheated on him.
The source continued: "Daniel really admires how Robert has handled the intense scrutiny of his personal life - he and Rachel are obsessively private.
"He really felt for Rob when Kristen Stewart’s cheating played out in the media. To go through that, but also maintain a level of professionalism and carry on working, shows amazing strength of character."
But if Rob is keen on the much-coveted role, he could face stiff competition from Luther star Idris Elba.
Skyfall Bond girl Naomie Harris - who's set to star with Idris in Mandela: The Long Walk To Freedom - last year suggested that the actor has been chatting with Bond's producers about possibly taking up the part.
Naomie, 36, revealed: "I didn’t realise that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris and he said that he met (Bond producer) Barbara Broccoli and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond.
“I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he’s a great guy."
