Elton John reignites feud with “fairground stripper” Madonna
Sir Elton John and Madonna have never had the best relationship, and things don’t look set to improve after the singer called the Queen of Pop a “f*ckng fairground stripper” in his latest interview.
The 65-year-old didn't hold back with his criticism on Australian TV show Sunday Night, proclaiming that Madonna’s “career is over”.
The pair have endured a long-running feud, but Elton’s latest outburst appears to have been triggered by the Girl Gone Wild singer’s treatment of fellow popstar Lady Gaga.
Madonna has been outspoken in her criticism of Gaga’s Born This Way track having too many similarities to her own 1989 hit Express Yourself.
The Daily Mail quote mother-of-three as saying: “I thought, ‘What a wonderful way to redo my song.’ I mean, I recognised the chord changes. I thought it was ... interesting.”
Elton alleges that the 53-year-old has been “horrible” to Gaga, who is the godmother of his 19-month-old son Zachary with husband David Furnish.
He added that the singer has no right to slam others because her MDNA world tour has been less than well-received and plagued with scandal.
Elton said: “She's such a nightmare. Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger ****.
“If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly.
“But no, she had to go and prove ... she looks like a f*cking fairground stripper. She's been so horrible to Gaga.”
Certainly after Elton's harsh words it looks unlikely that the pop legends will bury the hachet any time soon.
