Jessie J has announced that she will shave her head to raise money for Red Nose Day next year.

Originally promising to cut off her jet black hair last year, she has stayed true to her word and will take it all off for what will be called “the big shave” in March.

The Price Tag singer's announcement comes days after fellow chart-topper Lady Gaga shaved the lower half of her head as a tribute to Terry Richardson’s mum.

But unlike Gaga, the 24-year-old fully intends to take all her hair off in the hope of raising as much money as possible for charity.

As a result Jessie has taken to her Twitter page to personally drum up support from her 5.75 million followers.

The Voice mentor explained on Twitter: “A year ago I said ‘I'm gonna shave my head for charity’...

“I have spent a long time making sure that when I do shave my head I raise as much money as possible for charity...

“I have been waiting for the perfect time and the right charity.. But also a charity that can get my amazing fans involved too..

“I am SO excited and honoured to be able to finally officially announce I will be shaving my head LIVE for you ALL to watch in March 2013 for @rednoseday :D #letsraisesomemoney.

“Follow @rednoseday please :) & let's make next year's the BEST & most memorable but most of all it is ‘All about the money’ (This time) ;) “

Jessie J had an overwhelmingly positive response from fans pledging to sponsor the singer if she goes through with “the big shave”.

Obviously excited about her forthcoming charity exploits, the Domino singer told her followers: “Be good. Do good. Feel good.”

Soon afterwards the popstar was ecstatic to see #JessieJheadshaveRND #JessieJdaresyouRND trending worldwide on the micro-blogging site.

There’s clearly no backing out now, as yesterday Jessie revealed that she’s done her first Red Nose Day shoot for the campaign, adding: “It’s all SO real now! Can’t wait!”
