The Duchess Of Cambridge teamed her short-sleeved number - available from Selfridges for £515 - with a statement gold necklace and black court shoes.

Kate, 30, opened the exhibition, which displays photographs of 2012 athletes.

The visit marks the start of a month of royal Olympic duties by Kate, who along with Princes William and Harry is a Team GB ambassador.

A St James’s Palace spokesman said: “All three will be doing their bit to support Team GB and many other Commonwealth athletes.

"They hope to attend many events and they also hope to drop into the athletes’ village and some of the team houses, like Team GB House.

“They’re all natural sportsmen and women and are very excited about it. They follow the Olympics anyway and are very pleased the Games are here.

“They know they’re in an incredibly privileged position to see the Games first-hand and they want to draw the spotlight onto all aspects of excellence.

"They hope to be able to meet as many people as possible during the course of the Games.”
