Lauren Goodger has handed in her notice to TOWIE bosses after six series on the reality programme.

The Essex girl is said to be following in the footsteps of a number of her former co-stars and leaving to join another TV programme.

Though she was originally thought to be entering the Celebrity Big Brother house, Lauren has reportedly signed up for ITV prime time show Dancing On Ice.

TOWIE representatives told MailOnline: "I can confirm Lauren Goodger will be taking a break and won't appear in the next series of The Only Way Is Essex."

Lauren, 25, will make her final appearance on tonight's season finale - though there will be scope for her to return at some point in the future.

A source told The Sun: "Lauren knows she is not an integral part of TOWIE anymore, so she’s decided to jump ship.

"An opportunity to do Dancing On Ice came along and she's jumped at the chance."

Former TOWIE stars Amy Childs and Kirk Norcross left the show to appear in CBB, while Mark Wright swapped the Essex mecca for the Australian outback on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Mark and Amy both went on to score their own reality shows, but they haven't proved hugely successful.

Let's hope Lauren's ice skating in glittery skin-tight outfits will make her more popular with the public.
