Lindsay Lohan has checked into jail to begin serving her 30-day sentence.
The troubled actress - who was sentenced to 300 days in jail last week after admitting she had violated the terms of her probation in relation to a 2007 driving under the influence case but will only spend 30 days behind bars - arrived at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California at 8.48pm PST last night (06.11.11).
However, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website, the 25-year-old star is expected to be released within hours of her arrival due to jail overcrowding.
Steve Whitmore, Sherrif's spokesman, has said Lindsay may have to spend time in prison overnight if there are several other inmates checking out at the same time.
The 'Mean Girls' actress violated her probation last week by failing to show up at community service appointments at a women's shelter in Los Angeles, and will now have to perform all of her community service at a morgue and complete 19 psycho-therapy sessions by March 29, 2012
If she fails to do so, she will have to serve the remainder of the 270 days of her sentence.
In an unusual twist, the Superior Court judge Stephanie Saunter also banned Lindsay from using social networking site twitter while working at the morgue.
