Mariah Carey denies American Idol feud with Nicki Minaj
With Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey joining the American Idol judging panel, many immediately predicted that the two big female personalities would clash.
Within 24 hours of filming, the internet was awash with rumours that the divas weren’t getting along, which wasn’t helped by Nicki Minaj’s cryptic posts on Twitter.
Speaking about the first day of filming on American Idol, the 29-year-old Pound The Alarm singer cryptically tweeted: "It was...interesting... "
Mariah also added fuel to the fire on Twitter, writing: "#Idol NY auditions - several classic moments so far lol."
There have been several reports that Nicki and Mariah kept talking over each other during filming and an inside source told TMZ.com: "These girls just don't like each other."
But at a press conference yesterday, 42-year-old mother-of-two Mariah addressed the allegations and asked the assembled press: "How can we feud in two days? I think a feud takes a little longer.”
Randy Jackson, who's also on the panel alongside Nicole Kidman’s husband Keith Urban, shot down the rumours of a diva-off.
He explained: "We're having fun, dude. We've been having a good time. There has been a lot of laughs."
Mariah added: "It's music. It's singing. It's laughter."
American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, who has seen plenty of judges come and go over the years, jokingly suggested that the diva feud was actually between him and Randy, not Nicki and Mariah.
He said: "Randy will not share his mirror, and I've never seen that side of him before. It's causing friction."
