Michelle Keegan banned from Strictly Come Dancing?
As part of the escalating ratings battle between ITV and BBC, Coronation Street
stars have reportedly been banned from appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
The producers of the hit ballroom dancing show were hoping to sign up Corrie star Michelle Keegan, the four-time winner of ‘Sexiest Female' at the British Soap Awards.
But those hoping to see the 25-year-old actress in a variety of skimpy, glittery outfits will be sorely disappointed to learn that ITV soap bosses are refusing to give her the time off to film the BBC show.
But in a move that's set to anger the BBC, Coronation Street
producers reportedly will allow the cast to appear on ITV’s Dancing On Ice
or I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
A Corrie insider revealed to The Sun: “It’s a no-brainer for us. Why would we allow cast members time off to go to film a show for a rival channel?
“The BBC’s offer never got off the ground - we wouldn’t release her from her contract. That goes for everyone else in the cast but we are more open when it comes to ITV shows.”
Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan and TV personality Fern Britton
are said to have already signed up for the new series and Westlife’s Nicky Byrne is reportedly close.
Other names rumoured to be in hat
include former BBC presenter Sian Williams, Winter Olympics star Amy Williams and DJ Chris Evans.
