Olympics 2012 Opening Ceremony: Daniel Craig parachutes in?

It's reported that James Bond star Daniel Craig will kick off tonight's event with a 007-style landing into the Olympic Stadium.

Daniel is said to be parachuting in from a helicopter as the climax of a short film called The Arrival.

The Queen is even said to be making a special appearance, issuing Daniel with his latest mission to launch the Games.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “Daniel Craig is determined to open the ceremony with a bang and he and the BBC producers have pulled out all the stops.

“The world will be watching and they are happy to go to any length to make sure the stunts are as thrilling as possible."

Tonight's event has been put together by Trainspotting film-maker Danny Boyle and will have a British countryside theme.

A whopping billion people around the world are expected to tune into the three-hour spectacle, which is thought to have cost £27million.

Organisers have gone to every effort to keep details of the ceremony - dubbed "the greatest show on earth" - a secret.

The identity of the individual who will light the Olympic Flame is still being speculated, with big names such as David Beckham, Dame Kelly Homes and The Queen all rumoured to be undertaking the historic feat.

We're more than a little excited...
