Reese Witherspoon was hit by a car driven by an 84-year-old woman in Santa Monica, near Los Angeles, yesterday (07.09.11).
The 'Walk The Line' actress - who has two children, Ava, 12, and eight-year-old Deacon with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe - was taken to hospital after the vehicle, which was travelling at around 20 miles per hour, struck her when she was out jogging - and the driver of the motor was later given a citation for failing to yield a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The 35-year-old beauty's spokesperson Nanci Ryder told E! News the star is "resting comfortably at home" and was not seriously hurt in the accident.
Police Sargeant Richard Lewis confirmed the incident, saying: "The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, an 84-year-old female resident of Santa Monica, was travelling southbound and struck a female pedestrian jogging westbound within an unmarked crosswalk."
Earlier this year, Reese twisted her ankle leading to her having to wear a soft cast on her left foot, but the injury was said to be "nothing serious".
Her spokesperson said at the time: "She twisted her ankle and is in a walking cast temporarily. Nothing serious."
