Simon Cowell jealous of "comical" OBE winner Gary Barlow
Firstly, Simon was reportedly annoyed upon finding out that Take That star Gary had been awarded an OBE from the Queen.
Tom Bower claims in a new chapter of Sweet Revenge - his biography of Simon: "The announcement that Barlow would receive an OBE for arranging the [Diamond Jubilee concert] added to his irritation. 'He chased that madly to get three initials after his name,' he carped."
Furthermore, Simon was said to be unhappy that ITV bosses hired 41-year-old Gary for a second series of his ITV show.
And these feelings were intensified after Gary became head judge alongside veteran Louis Walsh, plus Tulisa Contostavlos
and Nicole Scherzinger.
Tom added: "The ambitions of Barlow, he believed, were comical. Ever since Barlow had clawed his way back after a disastrous attempt to become a solo star, Cowell was niggled by his conviction that Barlow was bidding to establish a rival entertainment empire and, like [Sir] Paul McCartney, secure a knighthood.
"He enjoyed snubbing the man who foolishly asserted that he was the top judge, not Louis Walsh, by texting his criticism about Barlow to others."
Looks like Simon's a little worried Gary could be stealing his business mogul crown.
