Strictly Come Dancing make-up room ransacked by thieves
As the latest set of celebrity contestants filmed the Strictly Come Dancing
launch show, thieves broke into the make-up room and ransacked through everyone’s belongings.
According to The Metro, the production team of the hit BBC ballroom dancing show were left devastated by the robbery.
They report that the burglars stole money, mobile phones and make-up from the backstage area on Wednesday night.
Ant McPartlin’s wife, make-up artist Lisa
Armstrong, has been named as one of the victims of the thieves.
A source told The Sun: “People come in and out of that room the whole time.
“Everyone knows each other so they leave valuables lying around. The room was full of purses, mobiles and make-up, all of which went.
“Whoever did it must know what a treasure trove it can be.”
In response, security at the Television Centre in West London has been stepped up and the BBC are launching an internal investigation into how the culprits managed to get access to the area.
There is no word yet as to whether they have CCTV footage of the thieves, but it’s understood they are working closely with the police.
Sadly that wasn’t Strictly's only mishap during the launch show, as Bruce Forsyth
faced problems with the autocue during filming as the celebrities were matched up with their professional partners.
Things then went from bad to worse as one of the dancers suffered an eye injury during a routine, before filming had to be halted after a cameraman drove into a prop, which all contributed to significant delays while filming.
But on the plus side this year's Strictly Come Dancing celebrity line-up has been hailed as the best yet, including Girls Aloud
singer Kimberley Walsh, Westlife's Nicky Byrne, TV presenter Fern Britton, and actress Denise van Outen.
In addition, Olympic heroes Victoria Pendleton
and Louis Smith will appear with TV veteran Johnny Ball and Daybreak reporter Richard Arnold.
Strictly Come Dancing kicks off with its launch show on Saturday night at 6.30pm and the main series starts on BBC One on 5th October.
