Tulisa Contostavlos’ solo debut album - The Female Boss - was an unmistakable flop, limping into the pop charts at number 35 earlier this month. Despite having a high profile position on The X Factor judging panel and landing a coveted guest performer spot on the show, the album was a dismal failure. To add insult to injury, it’s been revealed that Willi.am and Britney Spears’ new hit single Scream & Shout was originally co-written and recorded by Tulisa.

Talk about kicking a girl when she's down.

The song is topping pop charts worldwide and looks set to head straight to number two on the UK charts, which is something that Tulisa would desperately need to generate some album sales.

Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am reportedly dropped Tulisa in favour of Britney Spears, who attempts a rather dodgy Cockney accent on the track.

A source told The Sun: “The song was due to be Tulisa’s third single from her album, until Will told his protégé Jean that he wanted the beat for him and Britney.

“Tulisa’s team thought it was a surefire hit but, after losing the battle for the rights, they were forced to release Sight Of You which only got to No 18.

“She now has to watch on as the song goes Top five around the world.”

It will come as a blow to Tulisa, who’s reportedly furious not only that Will.i.am took the song from her, but that Britney re-recorded her vocals in an identical style.

The song was originally called I Don’t Give A F*** and the N-Dubz star created the hit with Will.i.am’s right-hand man Jean Baptiste for The Female Boss.

Some copies of her album even have the song featured on it, but most of them have now been recalled.

The insider added: “At one point Tulisa was even considering releasing her version to rival Scream & Shout, but now it’s unlikely to see the light of day unless it gets leaked.”
