"Vulnerable" Rihanna opens up about Chris Brown attack
The Barbadian pop star, who was brutally attacked by Chris three years ago, opens up to US chat show host Oprah Winfrey in an upcoming TV special.
Rihanna says: “I felt like the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird, confusing space to be in.
“Because as angry as I was - as angry and hurt and betrayed - I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who's going to help him?
"Nobody's going to say he needs help, everybody's going to say he's a monster, without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him."
The 24-year-old admits the incident was "embarrassing" and "humiliating".
She added: "I lost my best friend."
The chat airs on 19th August on Oprah's OWN channel - and the trailer promises it to be a dramatic show.
Oprah is seen asking Rihanna in the clip: “Do you think Chris Brown is a true love for you?”
She also asks: “Where does your relationship stand today?”
Following the interview, Oprah admits Rihanna - who portrays a fiercely sexy image to the public - was not at all as she expected her to be.
Oprah tells the camera: “I went there with my own ideas about who she was from watching her videos and listening to her music. I thought she was gonna be kind of a bad*ss, a kind of hard edged rocked, pop woman. Nothing could have been farther from the truth.
“She was thoughtful...she was very emotional...she was vulnerable."
