A new study of 16-24 year olds by MTV and The Body Shop as part of the Get Lippy campaign for safe sex reveals a shocking 'aware but don't care' attitude to sex and protection.
HIV and AIDs were top of the list of worries about sex, yet 63% of young people admitted to having had unprotected sex, 33% with two or more partners. Only 15% of women said they carried condoms, and more than half would bed their date on or before the third date (the third date being now more commonly known as 'the sex date').
The Get Lippy campaign, supported by Estelle and Annie Lennox, aims to educate young people into being more responsible about sex. It will raise funds for the Staying Alive Foundation to finance HIV and AIDS educational projects through the sale of a limited edition Guarana Lip Butter, out now at the Body Shop.
