Shu Uemura, 1928-2007

Japanese make-up guru Shu Uemura passed away on 29th December at the age of 79. 

Mr Uemura was a pioneer far ahead of his time, and put his passion for avant-garde art and design into revolutionising make-up with products that never fail to surprise. He worked as a make-up artist with the likes of Marilyn Monroe in 1950s Hollywood before launching the now-iconic Shu Uemura brand and bringing geisha make-up to the West.
