John Rocha hit the runway at London
Fashion Week on Monday (10/02) with his very tailored autumn/winter collection.
A modern and slightly quirky femininity was on display, with new profiles in volume and structure created using interlinings and light waddings to form beautiful bell and lantern shapes. The masculine look also features, with neat, almost spruce, masculine pieces with a sporty touch contrasting well with soft feminine detailing.
John’s fascination with surface and texture was evident from the twisted and knotted fabrics, hand crochet and hand loomed knits, dense metallic embroideries and sequin panelling. Beaten nakshi, intricate beading and gold braids featured on sculpted jackets, voluminous trousers and short skirts.
Colour-wise, gold was there in all its tones, along with bright tomato red, flame, candy pink, purples from amethyst to
blackcurrant, and blurs of pastels in tulle underskirts. Fabrics were decadant and rich - cashmere, wool felt, lambs wool, coupled with delicate silk crepe de chine and georgette legere. We like.
