Stars of fashion, film and music came out in force to celebrate the opening of British/Turkish-Cypriot designer Hussein Chalayan's first UK exhibition on Wednesday night. "From Fashion and Back" is on now at the Design Museum in London.
Twice named British Designer of the Year, Hussein is renowned for his innovative use of materials, meticulous pattern cutting and progressive attitudes to new technology. The exhibition is the first comprehensive presentation of his work in the UK, spanning 15 years of experimental projects, exploring his creative approach, inspirations, and the themes of cultural identity, displacement and migration which influence his work.
Guests included Christian Slater, Nicolas Anelka, Roisin Murphy, Ron Arad, Tom Dixon, Terence Conran, Sebastian Conran, Erin O’Connor and Saffron Aldridge. They were treated to Veuve Clicquot's famous yellow champagne and Turkish-Cypriot delicacies.
