Lesbian sex

Lesbian sex or homosexuality is simply when one woman engages in sexual acts with another woman.

But for those of us wondering about lesbian sex or even thinking about trying it, it can be quite difficult to work out what exactly goes where...

Lesbian sex can involve both non-penetrative and penetrative sex and involves a combination of mutual masturbation, oral sex, stimulating the erogenous zones and the use of sex toys like vibrators, dildos and strap-ons.

So for those of you with a curious mind, we took the trouble of finding out the ins and outs of lesbian sex (no pun intended).

Scissoring:
This is the act of two women rubbing their genitals against each other or other parts of their partner's body like legs, stomach, buttocks or palm for sexual satisfaction.

Touch:

A big part of lesbian sex is about touch and so knowing how to use your hands and mouth is key. To get sexual satisfaction there is a lot of emphasis on touching, kissing and rubbing of the breasts, buttocks and rest of the body with hands and mouth.

Fisting:
This is pretty much what it sounds like. Fisting is penetrating a woman's vagina with an entire fist. Unsurprisingly this can be quite painful and so usually the practise is to go slow and use a lot of water-based lubricant.

Strap Ons:
A strap-on is a dildo with a harness designed to be warn by one woman around her crotch and can be inserted in the vagina, anus or mouth.

Strap-ons are a seperate sub-section of sex toys to dildos and vibrators and are much more commonly used in lesbian sex.

Sex Toys:

Forget the clichés: penetration does exist in lesbian sex and is a standard part of it. Anal or vaginal penetration using fingers, hands, tongues or objects like sex toys, dildos and strap-ons is common place.

However using sex toys has nothing to do with desire for a penis but just as a personal preference for sexual stimulation.

Sexually admitted infections or diseases (STIs/STDs) and lesbian sex
Even if no penetration occurs, lesbian sex carries the same risk of sexually transmitted disease or infections (STIs/STDs) as heterosexual sex, and testing for infections is just as vital, even if no contraception is required.

Regular check-ups and testing will ensure any STDs/STIs are detected and dealt with. Remember - safety first!

Protection
A latex oral barrier or dental dam is advised. Use a standard condom or latex glove (make sure it's a decent one with a CE stamp). A barrier should cover the lips and vulva during sexual acts, should be used once and changed for different parts of the body.

For any type of anal or vaginal penetration with sex objects, it's vital to use a masculine or feminine condom. Latex gloves should be used for penetration by hand, and for all types of penetration, a little water-based lubricant should be used to avoid any pain, irritation or discomfort.
