There's a whole gamut of body lotions that boost your tan as well as your moisture levels - double motivation to moisturise regularly. Unlike many a sunless tanner, gradual tanning moisturisers won't leave you looking totally Tangoed for weeks if you mess up. We take a look at some of the best.

Johnson's Holiday Skin Body Lotion, £4.99
The original gradual tanner, this distinctive yellow bottle first appeared 5 years ago, selling out in shops and pervading homes, offices and public places all over the country with its slightly metallic odour. The 2009 version contains nourishing avocado oil and a fragrance that's much easier on the nostrils.

Elemental Herbology Sun Kiss, £22, www.spacenk.com
This light lavender-fragranced lotion is very fluid and light, allowing skin to breathe. The eco-certified self-tanning agent, derived from natural sugarbeet, gives a noticeable colour boost from the first application. Glow aside, it also contains watermelon seed oil which deeply nourishes and softens the skin.
