Lasagne

Rating
Type of dish : Main course
To serve : 4
Preparation : 60 min
Cooking : 40 min
Budget : Reasonable
From : Italy
Difficulty : Easy

Ingredients :
500 g minced meat,
3 tins plum tomatoes (or fresh tomatoes, when in season,)
1 red pepper,
mushrooms,
3 onions,
1 clove of garlic,
salt & pepper
mixed herbs (parsley, chives, basil)
pre-cooked sheets of lasagne
beurre, farine, lait pour la béchamel
grated cheese for sauce.

Recipe :
1-Prepare the meat:
Brown an onion in a small amount of oil in a frying pan and add the minced meat. Allow to catch slightly, then add the tomatoes, salt and pepper, sliced mushrooms, red pepper, herbs and garlic. Simmer at a low heat for at least 15 minutes.

2-Make a light cheese sauce by melting a little butter and adding milk and cheese until melted.

3-Take an oven-proof dish and layer the ingredients as follows: cheese sauce; lasagne; meat; cheese sauce; lasagne; meat etc. If you have any sauce or meat left over, make an extra-thick final layer. Finish with a layer of lasagne and a layer of cheese sauce. Top with grated cheese and a couple of knobs of butter.
Cook at 450°F (235°C) for 30 -40 minutes, or until the topping has browned and you can insert a knife easily into the middle.
