Grunge band Nirvana were formed in 1986 by Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. Their second album 'Nevermind' (1991) brought them international success, and in 1994, they released 'In Utero'.

The band's existence came to a sudden and tragic end when, later that year, lead singer Cobain commited suicide. Two live albums have been released posthumously; 'Unplugged in New York' (1994) and 'From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah' (1996). Dave Grohl went on to drum with the Foo Fighters.
