Sandra Bullock was born in a Virginia suburb of Washington D.C. to a German opera singer and a voice teacher. She studied acting at East Carolina University and her first box office success was the action film was 'Speed' (1994), opposite Keanu Reeves. Bullock subsequently starred in 'The Net' (1995) and 'Speed 2: Cruise Control' (1997), before finding her feet in romantic comedy. She was a witch alongside Nicole Kidman in 'Practical Magic' (1998), a divorcee in 'Hope Floats' (1998), a recovering alcoholic in '28 Days' (2000) and a lawyer in 'Two Weeks Notice' (2002, opposite Hugh Grant). However, Sandra Bullock is probably best known as Gracie Hart, undercover cop, in 'Miss Congeniality' (2002). The sequal 'Miss Congeniality: Armed and Fabulous' to be released in 2005. She is currently dating biker rebel turned actor, Jesse James.
