Biography - Keira Knightley | Published by franckounette | Born in 1985, to actor Will Knightly and writer Sharman Macdonald, Keira requested an agent aged three! Her parents would allow her to work on productions during the summer holidays and at the age of nine she acted in Moira Armstrong's 'Village Affair' (1994). In 1999 she took on her first high profile role as Sabe, Queen Amidala's decoy, in 'Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace'. The similarity between her and Natalie Portman was so uncanny, that once they were in make-up,even their own mothers could not tell them apart!
She then starred in 'The Hole' (2001) and the TV series 'Dr Zhivago' (2002), but it was 'Bend it like Beckham' which really got her noticed. Knightly has hardly had time to blink since: We have seen her rubbing shoulders with the best of British, including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson, in Richard Curtis' 'Love Actually' (2003), and strapping herself into a corset for swashbuckling adventure 'Pirates of the Caribbean' (2003) with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. Most recently she starred as Guinevere, clad in litttle more than a leather belt, in 'King Arthur' (2004).
Although voted 'sexiest filmstar of all time' in a poll by Empire magazine, Keira is still very much a girls' girl at heart: She recently bought a flat and plans to live there with six of her girlfriends! |
