| Biography | Published by nela051 | After the success of squeaky-clean teen hits 'Genie In A Bottle' and 'What A Girl Wants', Christina Aguilera underwent a dramatic image change for 'Lady Marmalade' and 'Dirrty'.
Originally from Staten Island, New York, her mother was a musician, while her abusive father was in the military. A passionate performer since childhood, she first performed in front of an audience in a school show at the age of eight. She spent her adolescence singing the national anthem at football games in Pittsburgh, before joining 'The Mickey Mouse Club' at 12, alongside Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
When the show folded two years later, she headed to Japan, for a duet with Japanese popstar Keizo Nakanishi, 'All I Wanna Do'. Back in the US, she contributed to the soundtrack of Disney animation 'Mulan', with the song 'Reflection', before launching her pop career in 2000 with 'Genie in a Bottle'. 'What A Girl Wants' and 'I Turn To You' were also huge hits and after a short period away from the limelight, she came back to record the soundtrack to the film 'Moulin Rouge', with Pink, Missy Elliott and Mya on 'Lady Marmalade'.
Her sexy comeback album, 'Stripped' was apparently a reflection of her true personality, even though the video for 'Dirrty', recorded with US rapper Redman was more than a little controversial. |
