Biography - Demi Moore | Published by sweetdreams11 | Demetria Gynes was born on 11th November 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico. She had a troubled childhood and dropped out of high school at young age, working as a model to make ends meet. She married for the first time at the age of 18 to rock singer Freddy Rock, a mariage which would last four years. In 1981, she made the break into acting, with a part in the US series 'General Hospital', before taking her first film role, in 'Blame it on Rio', three years later.
Unfortunately her success came with a price and Moore spent much of the mid-eighties addicted to cocaine, taking minor film roles to concentrate on her health, before taking a chance which was to make her career, by playing Molly in 'Ghost', a woman who continues her relationship with her dead husband with the help of a medium.
Shortly afterwards, Moore married superstar Bruce Willis, and in 1991 Hollywood's golden couple made Alan Rudolph's thriller 'Mortal Thoughts' together. On the big screen, Moore was well on her way to becoming a fully-fledged sex symbol, taking a string of profile-raising femme fatale roles including 'Indecent Proposal' in 1993 and 'Disclosure' a year later. A series of flops followed however, before her comeback in 'Striptease' in 1996, which despite rather poor showings in the box office, saw her become the highest-paid actress in Hollywood.
1998 was a difficult year for Moore, with her Mother's death from cancer and her sepration from Bruce Willis within months of each other. The split from her husband of eleven years saw Demi take a step out of the limelight to concentrate on her three daughters, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.
Five years later, in 2003 we finally saw her face back on film posters for 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle' in which she played the baddy to Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore's Angels. She also found love, with heart-throb Ashton Kutcher... watch this space! |
