German born Heidi Klum was brought up in a small village near Cologne, before launching her modelling career in 1991. This kicked off after she won the 'Model 92' competition, organised in Germany by top New York agency, Metropolitain. Heidi beat 25 000 other contenders to the top spot with her green eyes and perfect body. She boasts 89-61-86 curves and is 1m77 tall. Signed to Metropolitain, she was assured a salary of $300 000 for three months' work. Starting in Hamburg, her work soon took her to Paris, Milan, Miami and New York, with her face being used for everything from beauty products and haute couture, to telephones and swimwear. Heidi Klum' s face has appeared on the cover of every major fashion magazine and she commands over 2 million dollars a year... Not a bad return on a competition entry!
