In 1973 he made 'Mean Streets', with Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel, and this seems to have moulded his future direction. De Niro has played in a great many of his films since.
Scorsese's work includes, Taxi Driver (1973), New York, New York (1976), Raging Bull (1980), Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995), The Age of Innocence (1993), Gangs of New York (2002) and The Aviator (2004).
Interestingly, Scorsese nearly joined the priesthood, instead of persuing a career in film. He has since been married five times, and is a father of two.
