Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Berry is a former Miss Teen All American and also took part in the Miss USA and Miss World beauty pagents, working as a model during her teens. She studied journalism before turning to acting, starting out in sitcoms like 'Living Dolls' and 'Knots Landing'.
Her first big-screen role was in Spike Lee's 'Jungle Fever' opposite Samuel L. Jackson, and after many small roles, she was finally offered the part of Storm in 'X Men' by Bryan Singer.
