| Biography | Published by analynn | Anastacia and her soul diva voice first came to the public's attention with her hit 'I'M Outta Love'.
Difficult beginnings in New York as the daughter of a singer father and actress mother, gave her the determination to win a place at the Professional Children's School in Manhattan. As a teenager she frequented some of New York's hottest clubs with her older sister, where their talent as dancers won them parts in Salt 'n' Pepa videos and entry into the music industry's social scene.
Things moved swiftly forwards, when a record producer she met at a party asked if she could sing. She duly began to send tapes to record companies, who found her strong voice hard to classify, but met songwriter OG Pearce in Los Angeles shortly afterwards, where she made her first foray into the recording studio, with 'One More Chance'.
Although the results were great, they still didn't hep her on her way to a recording contract, so as a desperate measure she entered the TV talent show 'The Cut', where she sang 'Not that Kind' and reached the finals.
Her performance caught the eye of several producers and in 1999 she finally signed with Daylight Records, a dvision of Epic. Her first album 'Not That Kind' came out the following year, with both the title track and 'One More Chance' expected to become big hits. But it was 'I'M Outta Love' which finally brought her public recognition. Her second album, 'Freak of Nature' came out in 2002, with the single 'Paid my Dues' as the CD's hottest track. In 2002 she also lent her voice to the Football World Cup theme song, 'Boom'.
Anastacia battled breast cancer and won, after finding a lump in her breast in 2002. |
