Apart from the Versace safety-pin dress, Hurley is probably best known for her role in the Austin Powers films, as secret agent Vanessa Kensington, opposite Mike Myers.

Born in Hampshire, she started ballet lessons at the age of 12. Five years later, she enrolled in the London Studio Centre to learn acting and continue dancing, which lead to her first film role in 'Aria' in 1987. In the same year, she met long-term boyfriend Hugh Grant, on the set of 'Rowing in the Wind', with whom she later started a production company, Simian Films, in 1994. The pair were together for 13 years, until Hugh was caught in Los Angeles with prostitute Divine Brown in 2000. Since the, she has made several other films, including 'Bedazzled', 'The Weight of Water', 'Bad Boy' and 'Serving Sara', as well as a spell as spokesmodel for Estee Lauder in.

She gave birth to her first son in 2002.
