Audrey Tautou is probably best-known in the UK as Amelie, in the 2001 film of the same title. The young French actress grew up in Beaumont and studied modern literature, before embarking on a film career. Although most of her work is in French, she speaks excellent English and filmed 'Dirty Pretty Things' in 2002. The winner of a César (French oscar) for Best Actress in 2000, she collaborated again with 'Amelie' director Jean-Peirre Jeunet in 2004 for 'A Very Long Engagement'.
