| Biography |  Published by butterfly0001 | The snake-hipped Latin crooner has had a long and successful career, which started at the age of twelve as a singer with the group 'Menudo' in his native Puerto Rico. Alongside singing and dance lessons, he was already appearing in televsion commercials as a child when he joined the group in 1984.
He left after a string of hits to study in New York in 1989, then travelled to Mexcio, where he recorded his first, eponymous album, the shot up the American charts. He toured and recorded a second album 'Ma Amaras', before winning a role in the US television series 'General Hospital'. A year later, he was treading the Broadway boards in 'Les Misérables'. He wasn't neglecting his recording career though, in 1997 he released another album which included the party anthem 'Un, Dos, Tres, Maria' , which turned out to be the hit of the summer. The following year, he recorded 'La Copa de la Vida', the Footbal World Cup's theme tune.
His first English-langauge album was released a year later, from which the hit 'Livin' La Vida Loca' was taken, and Martin was suddenly at the top of the English charts as well. 'She Bangs' went down well in student unions all over the land in 2000, from the album 'Sound Loaded'.
Martin is signed to Sony and is still churning out the hits. |
