| Biography | Published by carlam4 | Will Smith is best-known for dancing his way through 1997's 'Men in Black', but behind the scenes, he has single-handedly navigated his entertainment career through over 15 years of choppy showbiz waters.
Born in Philadelphia, he formed a rap duo at a young age with his friend, Jeff. DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince had a string of hits, before Smith met producer Benny Medina in 1989 and won a role in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. After a few early nineties screen roles, he appeared in 'Bad Boys' with Téa Leoni and Martin Lawrence, before playing a US Air Force captain in 'Independance Day'.
1997 was a great year for Smith, with success for both 'Men in Black' and his album 'Big Willie Style', featuring hits like 'Gettin’ Jiggy With It', 'Just Cruisin’ and 'Two Of Us'. 'Enemy of the State' and 'Wild Wild West' followed, before 'The Legend of Bagger Vance' and 'Ali' hit our screens in 2000, showing Smith's serious side. Since, then he has put the black suit on once again for 'MIIB' and gone back to his roots in 'Bad Boys 2'. |
