| Biography |  Published by Hekate | Born on the 17th October 1962 in Haiti, Wyclef grew up in poverty in the projects, which would later provide inspiration for the Fugees' lyrics.
After studying in New Jersey, he formed the Fugees with Lauryn Hill and Prakazel 'Pras' Michel. Their first album was good, but it wasn't until they released 'The Score' in 1996, that they hit real succes, selling over 11 millions copies which made the albupm one of the highest-selling hip-hop albums ever.
As a producer and writer, he has worked with Whitney Houston, Destiny’s Child and Santana, with the hit 'Maria, Maria'. In 1997, his first solo album went double platinum, but Jean has tried to share his success with the popel of Haiti, but creating a foundation which supports street children. |
