Coldplay have topped the list of the richest British celebrities of 2005. According to OK! magazine, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin earned $66.5 million, after selling approximately 10 million copies of their latest CD, X&Y, and playing several sold-out concerts. Second on the list of money makers for 2005 were U2. The Irish rockers earned $63 million in 2005, ahead of newlywed Elton John in third position, bringing home $54 million in the 12-month period. The remainder of the top ten earners were the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Simon Cowell, Anthony Hopkins, the Osbourne family, and Catherine Zeta Jones, respectively. |
