The Irish band U2 were the stars of the night at the Grammy Awards, winning all five of the categories of which they were nominated. The group, lead by singer Bono, won Best Album (How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb), Best Song (Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own), Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song (City of Blinding Lights), and Best Performance by a Rock Group. Singer Mariah Carey, John Legend, and Kanye West, each nominated in eight categories, won three awards each. Bono told Carey, "You sing like an angel." Kelly Clarkson earned two awards, including Best Pop Album. Sly Stone also performed in public for the first time since 1993, following a tribute to Sly and the Family Stone. |
