Rolling Stones Have the Lead in Music Earnings

Forbes has rated legendary rock groups Rolling Stones and U2, as top of the pops for the most profitable tours in 2005.

According to the magazine, the Stones, who played to more than two million spectators in a concert in Rio de Janeiro over the weekend, made over $245 million.

U2 came in second, with its Vertigo tour, netting $219 million.

Forbes added that these two groups have an additional income from CD sales and other promotional items.
