Bono, singer of the group U2, is donating a guitar to a hunger campaign in Brazil. The Brazilian authorities have announced that the guitar will be auctioned to raise money for the Zero Hunger campaign. According to Agencia Brasil, the guitar will be sold after the group's São Paulo concert. The Zero Hunger campaign's goal is to provide three meals per day to every Brazilian by December 31st, 2006. The celebrity singer and activist met the Brazilian President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, last week, to discuss the effort the Brazilian government is making to reduce famine in their country, and to develop renewable energy sources. Last year, rocker Lenny Kravitz, also donated a guitar to the Zero Hunger campaign, raising $132 000. |
