British singer George Michael was arrested over the weekend for possession of drugs. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, after an anonymous caller notified police that the singer was asleep in his vehicle on busy Hyde park corner. A police spokesman said: "We were called by a member of the public to a man seen slumped over the steering wheel of a car on the street close to Hyde Park Corner." Police confirmed the arrest of the 42 year-old star, stating that drug possession will be the charge that Michael will face in court next month. A police spokesperson said, "A search of the man revealed what was believed to be controlled substances." The star spoke out on Monday, saying that his arrest was his "own stupid fault". He released a statement, saying that he was expecting a hard time from the press over the issue, saying: "I have been through enough in 24 years of dealing with the media to know what I am in for." Characteristically, he made a clean breast of the affair, admitting that he was in possession of Class C drugs, but praising the police for their professionalism throughout. |
