| Legendary British group The Smiths have turned down $5 million for a reunion concert. The group, who split in 1987, have rejected $5 million to head the bill at the Coachella festival in the United States. According to Billboard magazine, the leader of the group Morrissey indicated that "money doesn't come into it". The group was formed in 1982, and separated due to a difference in opinion. Morrissey explained "I wanted to continue. Johnny wanted to end it. And that was that." The Smiths released many critically acclaimed albums including The Queen is Dead, one of the most successful albums in history, gaining recognition for both their music and social conscience. |
