English rock group Coldplay has dominated the list of record sales for 2005. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) who tallies world-wide sales, Coldplay's X&Y sold more than any other record, with 8.3 million copies. The band and their charasmatic lead singer Chris Martin surpassed American diva Mariah Carey and her CD The Emancipation of Mimi, which sold 7.7 million copies, along with American rapper 50 Cent's The Massacre, which sold 7.5 million copies.
