Antonio Banderas (Take the Lead) will star in the epic drama The Conquistador, which recounts the travels of the 16th century explorer, Hernan Cortes. Brazilian director Andrucha Waddington will lead the project, which begins filming next September in Spain and Mexico, with an astounding $40 million budget, the biggest ever in the history of Spanish language films. The script, written by Nicholas Kazan (Reversal of Fortune), follows the troubles encountered by Cortes when he arrives in the New World with many soldiers to stop the violence taking place in the Aztec Empire. We can currently see Antonio Banderas in the film Take the Lead, in which he plays a dance instructor. |
