Legendary rockers The Rolling Stones have arrived in China to perform for the first time ever. On Saturday, Mick Jagger's group will give a concert on Shanghai's Grand Stage before 8,000 fans. The Stones had planned to play in 2003, but the show was cancelled due to the SARS epidemic. The Chinese government, which has recently started allowing more western culture to seep into the mainstream, censored the Rolling Stones' album, 40 Licks in 2002. The songs Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Woman, Beast of Burden and Let's Spend the Night Together were all cut from the album for their suggestive lyrics. |
