Tom Hanks has chosen 2001: A Space Odyssey as his favourite film of all time, but has a particular fondness for four others. Hanks, who recently shared his favourites with a German newspaper, also chose Elephant, directed by Gus Van Sant, The Godfather, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and Fargo, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, as his other favourites. Hanks, a two-time Oscar winner for his performances in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump, chose Boogie Nights to complete his top five, the Paul Thomas Anderson film about the 1970s porn industry. Hanks can be seen in cinemas next month in the long-awaited Da Vinci Code. |
