Cult student film Withnail and I is set to come to the London stage next summer, with Jude Law tipped to be taking the lead role.
Stars of the original 1987 film Richard E Grant and Paul McGann have been deemed too old to reprise their roles, the stage producers are said to have contacted Law’s agent with a view to him starring in the production.
A spokesman for Handmade Productions, who made the original film, said that the script would remain close to that of the original, much to the delight of Withnail fans around the country.
Richard Griffiths, who played Uncle Monty in the original, may also be approached for the project. |
