Angelina Jolie has given birth in Namibia to a baby girl, called Shiloh Nouvel Pitt-Jolie.
The baby was born on Saturday evening in the African country, where Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt have been living for the past two months to avoid press intrusion. A spokesperson for the couple, Cindy Guagenti revealed, "The night of May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. No further information is being given."She is thought to have been born by Caesarean section, although Jolie had originally planned a water birth. Pitt is said to have been present at the birth, with Jolie's brother also at the hospital.
Shiloh is the couple's first biological child and a sister to adopted children Maddox, four and 16-month-old Zahara. The carefully-chosen name is of Hebrew origin, meaning 'his gift' and 'peace', while Nouvel, meaning 'new' is a nod to the couple's fresh start.
Jolie is said to be doing well. |
